Estimations and Scaling Laws for Stellar Magnetic Fields

چکیده
In rapidly rotating turbulence (Rossby number much less than unity), the standard mixing length theory for turbulent convection breaks and Coriolis force enters balance such that magnetic field eventually depends on rotation. By simplifying self-sustained magnetohydrodynamics dynamo equations of electrically conducting fluid motion, with aid isotropic non-rotating or anisotropic driven by thermal convection, we make estimations derive scaling laws stellar fields slow fast Our are in good agreement observations.

Scaling Laws of Solar and Stellar Flares
In this study we compile for the first time comprehensive data sets of solar and stellar flare parameters, including flare peak temperatures Tp, flare peak volume emission measures EMp, and flare durations τf from both solar and stellar data, as well as flare length scales L from solar data. Key results are that both the solar and stellar data are consistent with a common scaling law of EMp ∝ T...
متن کاملStellar Evolution with Rotation and Magnetic Fields
We examine the generation of a magnetic field in a solar-like star and its effects on the internal distribution of the angular velocity. We suggest that the evolution of a rotating star with magnetic fields leads to an equilibrium value of the differential rotation. This equilibrium is determined by the magnetic coupling, which favours a constant rotation profile, and meridional circulation whi...
متن کاملSearching for links between magnetic fields and stellar evolution
Context. The evolution of magnetic fields in Ap stars during the main sequence phase is presently mostly unconstrained by observation because of the difficulty of assigning accurate ages to known field Ap stars. Aims. We are carrying out a large survey of magnetic fields in cluster Ap stars with the goal of obtaining a sample of these stars with well-determined ages. In this paper we analyse th...
متن کاملMagnetic Fields in High-Density Stellar Matter
I briefly review some aspects of the effect of magnetic fields in the high density regime relevant to neutron stars, focusing mainly on compact star structure and composition, superconductivity, combustion processes, and gamma ray bursts. THE “MAGNETIC FIELD” OF “NEUTRON STARS” A large body of evidence now identifies the presence of strong magnetic fields at (or very near) the surface of neutro...
متن کاملStable magnetic fields in stellar interiors
We investigate the 50-year old hypothesis that the magnetic fields of the Ap stars are stable equilibria that have survived in these stars since their formation. With numerical simulations we find that stable magnetic field configurations indeed appear to exist under the conditions in the radiative interior of a star. Confirming a hypothesis by Prendergast (1956), the configurations have roughl...
